How to run Claude on a schedule for a personal morning briefing
The problem
You want a short, personal briefing every morning without opening a dozen apps, and a way to hand small tasks to an assistant by message.
Tools needed
- Claude Code CLI (claude -p)
- cron
- A personal context / memory folder
- Optional: email, Telegram or voice-text triggers
Step-by-step recipe
- Write a context file (or folder) about yourself, your priorities and ongoing projects, plus a place for long-term notes.
- Schedule a cron job that runs claude -p with a briefing prompt in the early morning.
- Let the run read your context and memory and write the briefing (the author also generates a personalised podcast).
- Optionally let incoming emails, voice texts or Telegram messages start a session and get a reply.
- Read the briefing in the morning and update the context as things change.
Copyable prompt
It's [DATE], early morning. Read context/me.md, context/projects.md and memory/notes.md. Write my briefing in under 250 words: 1) the 3 things that matter most today and why, 2) deadlines in the next 7 days, 3) anything in memory I said I'd follow up on, 4) one suggestion I might not have thought of. Append new facts worth remembering to memory/notes.md. Do not send emails or messages.

What the builder reported
The source gives no numbers. The author says that once it has enough context, it sometimes surfaces useful, even surprising suggestions overnight.
These are the source author's own claims. AgentRecipes has not tested or verified them.
Watch out for
- The value depends on rich personal context and memory; a bare scheduled prompt won't do the same.
- Keep the scheduled job read-only unless you have explicit approval steps for actions.
