How to bulk-unsubscribe from Gmail newsletters with Claude Cowork and Claude in Chrome
The problem
Dozens of newsletters you no longer read keep arriving, and unsubscribing one by one is a chore.
Tools needed
- Claude Cowork
- Gmail connector
- Claude in Chrome extension
- Paid Claude plan (Pro in the source)
Step-by-step recipe
- Create a Cowork project with the Gmail connector enabled.
- Point Claude at a label or search that holds the newsletters (the author used an "archivable" label).
- Ask it to list newsletters that look safe to drop, without acting yet.
- Go through its list and decide keep or cut for each.
- Let it unsubscribe from the ones you cut via the Chrome extension.
Copyable prompt
Look at emails under the label [LABEL] from the last [3] months. List every newsletter or marketing sender with: sender, how many emails, and your recommendation keep/cut with a short reason. Do not unsubscribe or change anything yet. Wait for me to confirm which ones to cut. After I confirm, unsubscribe only from those senders and report what you did.

What the builder reported
The PCWorld writer reports Claude unsubscribed from 21 newsletters in about five minutes, one for each he chose to cut, and suggested marking any that come back as spam.
These are the source author's own claims. AgentRecipes has not tested or verified them.
Watch out for
- The author explicitly told Claude to list candidates first and not act yet; keep that order.
- Cowork requires a paid Claude plan (the author used Pro).
