How to build a daily newsletter briefing with Claude Cowork and an n8n MCP bridge

Research & monitoringClaude Cowork + n8n

The problem

You subscribe to many newsletters and want a short daily briefing, ideally as audio, instead of reading them all.

Tools needed

Step-by-step recipe

  1. Forward your newsletters to Readwise.
  2. Run n8n as an MCP server with a workflow that calls the Readwise API (Cowork had no direct network access in the source).
  3. Have Cowork fetch the previous day's articles through that bridge.
  4. Ask it for a two-page Word briefing with an executive summary.
  5. For audio, use a proper text-to-speech service rather than a local fallback.

Copyable prompt

Prompt template
Using the articles fetched from Readwise for [DATE], write a briefing of at most two pages:
1. Executive summary: 5 bullets.
2. One section per theme, with the article titles and links it draws on.
3. "Skip list": items that look important but aren't, one line each.
Write in plain, spoken-friendly sentences so it can be read aloud.

Original template written by AgentRecipes, not copied from the source. Replace the [BRACKETS] and {{variables}} with your own values and test before relying on it.

What the builder reported

The briefing document worked and the n8n bridge ran without problems. The audio step failed: without access to a good TTS model, Cowork used a local library and the result was too robotic to listen to.

These are the source author's own claims. AgentRecipes has not tested or verified them.
